Andrew holds a B Eng (Chemical) and M Com (Financial Economics) and worked in production and project roles up to 2006, when his focus shifted to strategy, business development and valuation. He has spent several years as technical advisor to government committees overseeing the negotiation of mining conventions and rail and mineral terminal concessions. He has experience in valuing metals and minerals assets, including iron ore, manganese, chrome, copper, coal, gold and the platinum group metals. Andrew is on the council of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
He was a member of the working committee that updated the South African Mineral Valuation (SAMVAL) Code, and presented on the topic of Comparative Transactions at the SAMVAL Launch in 2016. He has presented research and papers at conferences focusing on economics, mining valuation and health economics. He presents regularly at the annual conference of the World Initiative of Mining Lawyers, and recently gave specialised input on valuation of mineral assets to a visiting Chinese delegation of members of the Mineral Resources and Reserves Evaluation Centre (MRREC) of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Beijing. In addition, he lectures in exchange rate theory and corporate valuation at the University of Johannesburg.
Andrew is currently Partner and Principal Consultant at SRK Consulting (SA).
